PostSubject: Permission Request for an Event   Sat Dec 03, 2011 5:05 pm

//Hello, everyone. I'm not sure whether or not I'm allowed to make event suggestions, so if I'm not, forgive me and just ignore this. I'm also not sure if this is where mission requests would go. But, if it is, then hopefully this'll all turn out well.

I would like to request permission to do a three-pronged "raid" mission, involving both Jedi and Coalition chars, fighting against Republic chars. I'll also need some nameless NPC chars, but that can come later.

In essence, the plot will be as follows.

Friagne Xelax and the crew of the Aegis are organizing an assault on the shipyards over the planet of Rendili to capture two new frigate class warships commissioned by the Republic that have just finished completion, Assault Frigate Mk. Vs. The plan is as follows.

First, a detachment of commandos lead by a Jedi commander will slip down to the surface of the planet on a stolen Republic supply shuttle, thus bypassing the planetary defenses. Rendili recently had a failed uprising against the Republic, and martial law is in effect. The Republic planetary governor has taken residence in a former Cantina due to the destruction of his home in the revolt. This place in heavily guarded, and a hotel joined to the Cantina by a skywalk has been recommissioned as a barracks, making a full scale assault on the cantina impossible.

Instead, the commando detachment will pick off the sentries with disruptor rifles, and use cable launchers to scale the roof under cover of darkness, using stealth field generators to break in. The governor must be secured alive, and without triggering any alarms. The goal is to infiltrate his room, capture him, and then flee. This must all be done in a limited time frame, since the supply shuttle is expected to leave on a schedule, and our operatives amongst the resistance can only be expected to delay for so long. (The map used will be http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/Coruscant_Streets;33902. so if it could be uploaded to the server, I'd be much obliged.)

At the same time as the first shuttle, a second boarding craft, this one cloaked, will land in an unused dock on the Rendili shipyards' defense platform. A team of Mandalorian Commandos, also led by Jedi, will make their way up through the facility, silencing any guards in their way, and take over the weapons systems at the top using codes extracted from the Governor by our agents.

Our informants tell us that a small Republic Fleet will be arriving at the shipyards during our operation to claim the frigates. This fleet will consist of an MC-75 class Mon Calamari destroyer, a Nebulon B2 Frigate, and a pair of corvettes. These ships will also carry a small fighter escort, but likely will not have any bombers, making our job easier.

Once we have control of the defense platform, our agents will send a signal to the Aegis, and it will enter the system from hyperspace within the shields of the defense platform, supplementing them with its own. Hopefully, their guns will be enough to disable the Republic fleet's shields so our fighters can destroy their engines, and we can then force them to surrender, and, if not, destroy them before they can get a distress signal out.

Meanwhile, this will also provide cover for us to launch boarding craft onto the shipyards, and capture the frigates. Should our enemies surrender, we will take control of their cruisers as well, and then tow them into hyperspace as soon as our agents have returned to the Aegis, setting the defense platform to explode so it cannot be used against us, as we do not have the fleets necessary to keep the shipyards under our control.

(The map used for the defense platform infiltration will be the base multiplayer map "Vjun Sentinel." The map used for the space battle will be Carrack, and the battle itself will be entirely RP'd.)

//That's the whole dealie, so, thanks for reading this far. I hope you consider it. =D

//Part of Friagne's crew is made up of Mandalorian mercenaries. Think of them like his security crew.

I don't see why he would take residence in a cantina.. rather than a military base, or some other republic installation. And there are scare amounts of mandalorians, less than 100 in the galaxy, so finding a crew of mandalorians would be nearly impossible. Add that to the fact that the few alive are united. Mandalorian commandos would be hard to find.

I like the general plot, it seems like a well structured mission, but I can see some holes in your plan, for example: what should happen if he sleeping soldiers in the barracks *are* alerted, or something else happens. You don't seem to have a backup plan.

It seems like you're pitting two squadrons of soldiers against a barracks of troopers, and a small fleet. What would happen if the platform isn't secured? And what is the Republic doing in all of this? Are they just sleeping? Events are supposed to give information on both sides: troops, plan, strategy, equipment, goals, etc. Think of it like a siege map.

It needs a lot of work, but I like the idea and the plot, and the community getting more involved with events, so I'll consider it.

//The cantina part is a bit of a plot hole, so allow me to explain. He's there because the map I was gonna use didn't have a military base or anything, so I have to come up with some lame backstory. Anyway, it could just be because he's a corrupt guy who's into crime and such, and directs operations in the criminal underworld from there.

As for the mandalorians, didn't Boba Fett rebuilt them somewhat? And anyway, there would probably be plenty of people who CLAIMED to be mandalorians, and followed mandalorian teachings, etcetera, since the Mandos were a force to be reckoned with that would probably cause plenty of mercenaries to copy them.

Now, to the third question you raised. If the guards are alerted, the squadron on the planet's surface would have to retreat, in which case the platform invasion would have to revert to the secondary objective of disabling the defense platform instead of capturing it, and then the Aegis would have to fight off the fleet itself while stealing the frigates. I did not include any specific republic "roles," since this way people can fit in with their own characters, adding their own bits to the plot of the mission, as it's still a work in progress.

To address the mandalorian question, Boba Fett is long dead. His reformation and rebuilding of the Mandalorian Culture long forgotten. They made some foolish mistakes and got themselves destroyed. The remaining mandalorians have banded together to rebuild their culture, restructure Mandalore, and offer their services to the galaxy once again.
