The Battle Above Klatooine Empty
PostSubject: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptySat Sep 24, 2011 9:19 pm

As the Military leaders of the Republic decide on their course of action, a mid-sized fleet of Republic Warships launch into hyperspace. A Coalition messenger arrives at Klatooine, giving an early warning to the occupying force. The Coalition begans scrambling the fighters, preparing the Ion Cannons, Evacuation ships, and any other defenses.

Thanks to the early warning, Admiral Qadar Garv's fleet did not leave the system. They had come to collect Wintruum. Feeling crafty, Qadar had several of his ships jump to the nearby moon, hiding behind the shadow, for an ambush. "Any time now," he spoke gravely.

The recon fighters return to the fleet with intelligence on ships behind the moon. However, the intelligence is wrong, and the size of the ambushers was severely underestimated.

A small detachment of the fleet moves to attack the moon.

Admiral Rall Prepares the assault, shouting orders as the ships move forward, guns blazing.

The detachment would need to orbit to the other side of the moon, putting it away from fleet support for some very crucial minutes. The other end of the coalition fleet was pulling around from the left side of the moon. If the admiral chose to go left, he would intercept them but if he chose to go right, they would not meet. Admiral Qadar's other half waited in front of the planet. They would not budge.

By the luck of the cards, the detachment veers to the left ((i flipped a coin for this btw. lol)) ,moving in and confronting the enemy fleet. Admiral Rall scrambles the ships into attack formation and begins to fire on one of the coalition cruisers.

Meanwhile, the larger fleet moves toward the planet. The fleet halts at the steadfast enemy. Admiral Rall requests a holomeeting with the Coalition admiral.

The other fleet would begin to realize they were outnumbered as capital ships concentrated fire on one of the republic's larger ships. Ships continue to pour out from the side of the moon. The captain of the Mos Resoda initiates comm jamming from a small station set up on the moon, blocking communications from the side fleet to the main fleet.

Admiral Rall's call was answered after a short period of waiting. Instead of a powerful wookie or a regally trained human, he would see a gand in jedi robes casually sprawled in a chair.
"Greetings, Admiral. The fleet fears that we will have to blow you out of the sky if you do not leave your current course. What is it that you would like, Admiral?" The gand regarded him calmly, without naming himself.

Admiral Rall looks at the tiny Gand, before resuming.
As you can see, Jedi, the Republic forces have you and your men surrounded, and we are prepared to strike quickly and decisively. However, we will be lenient enough to allow you and your men to evacuate with honor, and hand over the planet peacefully. In exchange, we offer a sum of credits, and 5 prisoners of war. If you do not accept the terms, I am afraid we will have no choice but to decimate you and your fleet.

On the other side of the moon, a battle is already being fought, as Republic fighters strike at the ambushers. THey are hindered however, without comms or communications. A frigate goes down, crashing towards a Coalition capital ship in a suicidal fashion. Men began to evacuate the crashing ship

Perhaps, Admiral, Perhaps. We are playing a game of cards, let us see whose side is the winner? I must warn you, however... I have been known to cheat. the gand turned to a communication officer and the holocomm terminates.

On the other side of the moon, the capital ship begins to fly in reverse while firing at the center of the falling frigate. The captain's hope is to have the pieces fall to either side of the capital ship. He fears that if the frigate hits his ship, the shields will be critically low or worse, fail.

In front of the planet, the capital ships let out a swarm of fighters. Amidst the fighters, flys a squadron of saboteurs. Their proton torpedos are full of buzz droids purchased from the Collicoids. They plan to unleash said droids on the lead capital ship to hinder or kill the admiral and his command.

PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyMon Oct 17, 2011 7:44 pm

As the comms cutts off, a large battalion of fighters fly out from behind the capital ships, filling the sky with laser fire. The ships focus on taking out the sabotuers and other fighters, showering them with fire. The power of the capital ship is diverted to 70 % forward shields, 30% rear, as auto turrets fire at the incoming attackers. The battle has begun.

On the other side of the moon the frigate takes blaster fire, bursting into flames and splitting in two. The forward half of the frigate is launched at a higher speed- right toward the bridge of the coalition's capital ship. The rear of the frigate plummets down to the moon. Fighters come up from behind the enflamed frigate, opening fire on the capital ship and its defense.

The Battle Above Klatooine Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyThu Dec 08, 2011 6:19 pm

On the other side of the moon, the captain of the capital ship diverts power from the weapons systems, the rear shields, and the engines to the forward shields. When the two ships collided, the capital ship was not destroyed, but the ship was seriously damaged and would not be able to leave Klatooine if necesary. Its engines were done for, leaving it only with forward and backward motion at a limping speed. It was operating on now was minimal shields and a few laser cannons. The ship began to limp to the back of the formation. It could easily be destroyed.

On the main battle field, the fighters fly in a formation to protect the saboteurs while taking laser fire for their comrades. They were devoted to their cause. The coalition starships pour fire towards a medical frigate near the back side of the battlefield. They were attempting to make the enemy ships maneuver to defend the medical frigate, giving the fighters precious seconds to close in on their target. It was a cruel move, but all is fair in love and war.

The Battle Above Klatooine Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptySat Dec 10, 2011 6:43 pm

Rather than sending aid to the medical frigate, a counter attack is launched. The Republic dispatches it's own squadron of sabotuers, taking formation in flight towards the center of the coalition fleet. Seeing as the enemy fighters are otherwise occupied with protecting the coalition sabotuers, the attack is an easy one, and the sabotuers hone in on the enemy frigates and capital ships. Several lifepods can be seen ejecting from the medical frigate, as the frigate is now turned into a weapon. The captain of the medical frigate sets a course toward the base planetside, and flees the ship with the rest of the passengers in lifepods. This gamble should force the Coalition into a retreat to the surface, as they have now lost critical ground reinforcements. The Republic fighters continue to focus fire on the sabotuers.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the moon, the battle seems to be drawing to a close, with the Republic the assumed victor. After breaking down the enemy lines, all but obliterating the fighters behind the moon (taking heavy casualites as well, of course, ) the republic manages to destroy the critical capital ship. The remaining Republic forces now break away to reinforce the main fleet. In the peace behind the moon, the Republic dispatches a cloaked shuttle to the ground, preparing for the mission.

((I don't know about you joining.. This was pretty much a surprise attack.. I don't think the Coalition would have been able to summon reinforcements so quickly..))

The Battle Above Klatooine Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyWed Dec 14, 2011 8:30 pm

Commander Friagne Xelax stood on the bridge of the Aegis, looking with irritation out on the battle beyond the viewport. The Aegis, positioned near the rear and center of the Coalition forces, all guns trained on the fleet ahead, was doubtless one of the Republic's first targets, being one of the largest ships in the rebel fleet. It had to concentrate its entire complement of E-Wing escort fighters with curtain duty, engaging any bomber craft that came near so as to defend the ship. Even this had not been enough, for damage was being reported on one of the lower gundecks, doubtless the result of a proton torpedo that had gotten past their defenses. Still, the Aegis' shields were holding nicely, and hull damage was relatively minor. Still, Friagne hated to see his precious ship get battered up.

"Alright, now it's our turn." The Zelosian commander turned to face his bridge crew, his armored form standing silhouetted against the battle beyond the viewscreen. "All gunboats and bomber craft, launch. Peel off a squadron of E-wings to break through their defenses, and strafe the shield generators on the Republic's lead capital ship! Gun crews, lock on with ion torpedoes and open up. All port guns, aim for that cruiser! Turn the Aegis 45 degrees so our superstructure can provide cover for the launching fighters! E-Wings will slash through the shield breach created by our torpedoes to occupy the point defense guns, and the bombers will fan out and rain hell on that battleship!" The commander bellowed out orders with a calm befitting his experience in battle. At once, the bridge was a flurry of activity, the weapons officer relaying Friagne's orders to the gun crews and the fighter control station. The Aegis' engines kicked in, turning the ship ever so slowly, concealing and protecting the fighters that were just emerging from the star destroyer's shadow. Shields were reinforced on the port side, while the remaining E-wing squadron maintained a defensive curtain just inside the capital ship's shields, fending off any bombers or small assault craft that tried to attack the Aegis. The coordination of the movements was perfect, and by the time the bombers would be seen beginning their attack run on the Republic's lead ship, the ion torpedoes would already be barreling their way toward the battlecruiser with a speed that would make them most difficult to avoid. Meanwhile, the E-Wings attacked as well, distracting the gunners of the point defense guns to give the bombers an opening to deal the death blow, backed up by the heavy turbolasers of the Aegis. It was a brilliantly executed maneuver that would likely catch the victims off guard, and could very well have sent the Republic cruiser's crew plummeting to their graves.

PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyMon Jan 02, 2012 10:37 pm

The Commander upon the bridge of the Republic cruiser watched as the enemy E-Wings began their attack. Reacting quickly, he shouted out orders to his subordinates, as the shields were shifted to protect the cruiser. The fighters already scrambled, they now broke off an attack on a battered Coalition cruiser, flanking the E-Wings and firing a barrage of blasterfire. It was close, but perhaps the ship could be saved. Many of the coalition's forces had already been destroyed, and the true attack was about to begin.

Meanwhile, troops descended to the ground. Large detachments of soldiers emerged from the landing craft beginning their assault, as a second, smaller, elite unit began infiltration. Everything was going according to plan.

PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyThu Jan 05, 2012 1:41 am

Friagne had anticipated this maneuver. The shifting in the ship's shields would only save it for so long, since the ion torpedoes he had fired were already blazing across its shields in a lightshow of color, ripping them apart. Meanwhile, while the fighters and ships guns opened fire on the scattering E-Wings, the true assault began: K-Wings and Assault Gunboats strafed across the ship's hull, dropping proton bombs along its shield generator banks, turbolaser batteries, and structural weak points. The fighters that had already split off to attack the diversion created by the E-Wing slash would not be able to get back to their mothership in time to stop the bombers' assault, and with systems almost certainly on the fritz from the impact of three heavy ion torpedoes due to the Republic commander's failure to execute evasive action, the gunners would experience so many targeting computer glitches that picking off all of the bombers would be nigh impossible, and it most certainly could not happen before they finished their attack run on the enemy cruiser. The Republic crew's efforts had been admirable, but Friagne's attack had been executed with the skill of a master. He lost some E-Wings in the engagement, but it seemed that their diversion had been a complete success: the enemy ship now had almost no chance of survival.

PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyThu Jan 05, 2012 11:12 pm

As the Republic ship began to burst into a series of small explosions, the crew evacuated to drop pods, aiming themselves at the damaged enemy cruiser. This boarding attack would severely weaken the enemy, if all went as planned, while the Critically damaged republic ship began it's fall to the planet's surface. Meanwhile, the Republic fleet returned from the other side of the moon, flanking Friagne and the other Coalition cruisers. The enemy was now outflanked, and outgunned. They might destroy a few more Republic troops, but essentially, the space battle was won.

As the ground battle and space battle continued on, a blockade runner broke through the battle, landing on Jedi Grand Council Member Qadar's ship. The messenger quickly found Qadar, alerting him to return to the temple at once, but discreetly. A plan was ready to commence.

The Battle Above Klatooine Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Battle Above Klatooine   The Battle Above Klatooine EmptyFri Jan 06, 2012 4:04 am

At Friagne's direction, all fighters began to pull back in a loose semblance of formation, the E-wings taking picket duty as they formed back up, fending off the enemy's fighter assaults and shooting down several of the drop pods to cover the bombers' retreat. Supported by the versatile Gunboats, the squadrons returned to the Coalition fleet in one piece.

Friagne, meanwhile, had a plan. The fighters, as soon as they reached friendly lines, dived downward, and vanished beneath a shower of point defense cannonfire aimed to eliminate the enemy's boarding offensive. What the Republic forces did not know was that the fighters, instead of returning to their hangar bays, had prepared a flanking offensive of their own. While the Aegis repositioned itself to keep the enemy vanguard at bay with guns blazing and one squadron of fighters held in a protective curtain, the bomber squadrons, escorted by the reserve E-Wing squadron, were rising from below the Republic ships as they neared clearance from the large moon's mass shadow. Only appearing on radar when they opened fired with torpedoes at the capital ships' sub-light engines from below, slipping past the escort corvettes and light frigates to deal a sudden, unexpected attack. The capital ships, unless they somehow managed to execute evasive maneuvers in time, would be dragged down thanks to their lack of any engines to resist the pull of the moon's gravity field, to their destruction as they were wrecked upon its surface. Friagne had played his cards well, for this surprise offensive once again scattered and faded into the wreckage of the ill-fated Coalition ambush fleet, as though daring the Republic's less nimble fighter craft to follow them into such a dangerous area. In any case, by the time the Republic could coordinate any retaliatory offensive against the troublesome fighter craft, such an offensive would be almost entirely ineffective. The Republic's assault fleet, while large, was by no means vast enough to sustain the losses of so many of its capital ships. While the Coalition would almost certainly be unable to win the day, the results of Friagne's plans would render such a victory unsustainable. And if he could just eliminate all of their hardest-hitting ships, then he would have a chance of driving them back before his enemies inevitably pummeled the Aegis' powerful triple shield generators into useless hulks.

Unfortunately for the coalition squadrons, the Republic forces had anticipated such an attack, and by the luck of the draw, fighters flew from the hangars under the capital ships ready to meet them, shredding through their lines. Admittably it was a good plan, but it was not thought out far enough should the Republic be prepared. An attack that could have devestated so many Republic cruisers would be doomed to fail as Republic fighters ambushed the Coalition fighters underneath the Republic capital ships. Meanwhile, the Flanking Group of ships launched a full attack on the rears of the Coalition cruisers. Only one Republic cruiser was destined to fall from the ill-fated Coalition plan. Forcing the remaining coalition fleet to regather, the Republic prepared to negotiate the terms of surrender.
